The USA stated Sunday it is going to ship Israel a sophisticated anti-missile system – and American troops to function it – in a bid to bolster the nation’s air defenses following missile assaults by Iran.
US President Joe Biden stated he would ship the system “to defend Israel.”
Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder stated the deployment of a Terminal Excessive Altitude Space Protection (THAAD) battery would increase Israel’s built-in air protection system.
“It’s a part of broader changes the U.S. army has made in current months to help the protection of Israel and shield Individuals from assaults by Iran and Iranian-aligned militias,” Ryder stated in an announcement.
Iran’s Overseas Minister Abbas Araqchi warned earlier on Sunday that the US was placing the lives of its troops in danger “by deploying them to function American missile methods in Israel.”
“Whereas we’ve made monumental efforts in current days to include an all-out battle in our area, I say clearly that we’ve no crimson strains within the protection of our folks and our pursuits,” Araqchi posted on X.
Iran launched missiles and drones in opposition to Israel in April. Then, on October 1, Iran fired greater than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel amid escalating preventing between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon.
