Violence has elevated in Sinaloa because the July arrest of cartel co-founder Ismael Zambada, now on trial in the USA.
The Mexican military killed 19 suspected members of the Sinaloa cartel, the Ministry of Nationwide Protection stated, after they had been attacked within the northwestern state.
Greater than 30 gunmen shot at troopers in Culiacán, the capital of Sinaloa, on Monday, sparking a shootout during which members of the cartel had been killed, in response to a press release from the ministry on Tuesday.
Violence inside the cartel has intensified following the July arrest of Sinaloa cartel co-founder Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada García, who’s now on trial in the USA.
The ministry stated the cartel members killed Monday had been presumed linked to Zambada’s faction.
A neighborhood cartel chief was arrested through the shootout and recognized by authorities as Edwin Antonio “N.”
