Russia’s Federal Safety Service on Friday charged six British diplomats with espionage and mentioned a call had been made to withdraw their accreditation.
Russian state tv quoted an official from the safety service often known as the FSB as saying they might be expelled.
The FSB mentioned it obtained paperwork indicating they had been despatched to Russia by a division of the UK Overseas Workplace “whose principal job is to inflict a strategic defeat on our nation” and that they had been concerned in “intelligence-gathering and subversive actions.”
The transfer comes two days after the US and Britain pledged almost $1.5 billion in further support to Ukraine, and as Ukrainian officers renewed calls to make use of Western-supplied missiles towards targets deeper inside Russia.
The British Embassy in Moscow didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark from The Related Press.
