A helicopter has crashed into the roof of a resort within the common vacationer metropolis of Cairns in northern Australia, killing the pilot and forcing the evacuation of a whole bunch of friends, authorities stated Monday.
Emergency crews had been known as at round 2 a.m. Monday (1600 GMT Sunday) after a twin-engine helicopter collided with the roof of the resort, inflicting a fireplace on the high of the constructing and triggering evacuations, Queensland state police stated in an announcement.
Police stated forensic investigations had been underway to formally determine the pilot. He was pronounced lifeless on the scene.
“There have been no accidents amongst these on the bottom,” the police assertion stated.
The accident occurred at Hilton’s Double Tree Lodge within the metropolis of Cairns, a significant gateway to Australia’s Nice Barrier Reef, Australian media reported.
Two of the helicopter’s rotor blades broke off and one landed within the resort’s swimming pool, media reported.
The forensic crash unit will work with Australia’s transport security regulator to arrange a crash report, police stated.
